First!
Kim is so frustrating to cheer for because she does rush herself into some boneheaded plays. She's pretty much the Djokovic of the women's tour - her athleticism and technically brilliant groundstrokes (particularly her unique, powerful backhand that has that extra 'curl' away from her opponent) should allow her to dictate baseline play, but she sometimes checks out upstairs.
Vera's been impressive, but while the grass courts at WImbledon may have just been erratic enough to throw off Kim's shots, and Montreal saw Kim with a hip strain, the US hard courts should be enough for Kim to work Zvonereva over. |

I am a Kim C fan and I would love her to "3-peat" at the USO . . . but I would not mind Vera hoisting the trophy. After all, Vera deserves it as well :-) |

After that great mens semi we got this tonight?
I think I would rather watch paint dry! |

@princepro110
I hope you enjoyed watching the paint.

Clijsters was on fire tonight. I was cheering for Zvonareva to get her first major but Clijsters gave her a clinic. |

That was one of the all time great performances in a major final. Not great to watch from a competitive standpoint but the point construction and the way Kim controlled the court was really remarkable. It must feel awesome to play like that. |

A very disappointing match which I was actually looking forward to watching. However, the mens SF sucked all the enthusiasm for the womens final out of me and I hardly saw anything. Putting the women's match in prime time has not served to put a spotlight on the womens game but only to further the perception that the mens game is better and that the WTA is not worth watching. |

Hey Steve, where are you?
Looking forward to your next blog about Fed vs Rafa, ...oh, error, sorry, Nole vs Rafa in the final tomorrow.
Come on. We need something to read. |

Venus/Kim was a very good match (once I muted the sound). They can really play - as can many of the women. This was just the odd 1-sided match. |

You called it Steve. The part-time Jersey Girl waxes Vera for 21 consecutive wins in Queens. Kim was ready and sharp on her game after pulling out those tight three-setters in the QF and SF. I think the Stosur and Venus matches upped her match toughness quotient. Most impressive was the way she managed her nerves in the past three matches. Primetime under the lights, Kim never let Vera back into the match. |
